About My Melanin

My Melanin is a culture

Thats built on distress

Ostracized by plenty

And mimicked by the rest

A group of minorities

With ideal and ambition

No measure of oppression

Can break our coalition

A bond that we share

From being minority itself

On the path to succeed

And live in wealth

We are an embellishment to society

We shine in the dark

It's the melanin in my skin

That sets me apart

I carry the whips on their backs

With the rips in my hats

Red for the blood and camo for the actions

Mango for the light and stone for the memories

Black for the pain that its caused for centuries
